It's Halloween, a great time for me to crawl out of my burrow and cry out: I made a creepy little thing! Cartoon, short, video poem, vid zine, I don't know what to call it. It's under a minute, and you can watch it right here on youtube.
I've been playing Lucah Born of a Dream with the bf, and while there are many things to dig about Lucah, the short video sections have been really itching something inside me. I had to try my hand at it. I think this has to be my new favourite way to share, or read, poetry. I want everyone to do it.
This was my first experience with animation, and because I wasn't interested in doing anything too complicated, and the software I used was simple and functional ( Pencil 2D ), it was a pleasure.
For anyone interested, the other software used in this were Paint 3D (just to format the text), Reaper, and Sonar X1 LE. The synths were part of a pack called Wobble 2, from Sonivox. The DAWs were, as always, humbling (frustrating) to use, but once I had supplicated myself to the computer gods' satisfaction, that got to be pretty fun too.
Most significantly, the whole project took me a little under two weeks. After spending a few years on wildly ambitious research-heavy projects, it's such a thrill to make something that I could see through from start to finsh, to remind myself that it is possible to complete things, sometimes.
PS I'm still nervous about any kind of human interaction, but I'm glad to at least be making and posting work again. Hope you enjoy!
